INTERMEDIATE ACTION A HIT IN FIRST FESTIVAL APPEARANCE

August 17, 2010 – The Intermediate division made its first appearance at the Ontario Lacrosse Festival in 2010 and provided exciting competition in three divisions.

The first Intermediate ‘A’ Championship at the Festival featured Brampton and Orangeville in a zone-final matchup.  The first period was entertaining as the teams exchanged goals before Orangeville scored with mere seconds left on the clock to take a 3-2 lead after one period.  The last-second goal by Orangeville seemed to deflate the Brampton squad and they could not put another ball behind the Orangeville goalie.  Meanwhile, Orangeville went on to score five more goals for the 8-2 victory and Intermediate ‘A’ Championship.  Orangeville was lead by Zach Thompson and Jeff Noseworthy who each had 2 goal nights.

The Intermediate ‘B’ Championship was a physical matchup between Cambridge and Kahnawake.  Kahnawake took a 6-0 lead into the third period and despite a four goal period from Cambridge, they could not complete a comeback and Kahnawake took home the Intermediate ‘B’ Championship.  Kahnawake was lead by Tioronhin Jacobs and Zack Zachary with 2 goals each, while Oscar Carson lead Cambridge with a goal and two assists.

In the second zone-final in the Intermediate division, Nepean defeated Cornwall 5-3 for the Intermediate ‘C’ Championship.  The teams exchanged goals throughout the first two periods and entered the third period locked at 3-3.  Nepean scored twice in the final frame to win the championship.  They were lead by Matthew Tenute with 2g, 1a.
