FOUR PEE WEE CHAMPIONS CROWNED ON FESTIVAL'S FIRST WEEKEND


August 17, 2010 – The first set of Provincial Championships of the 2010 Ontario Lacrosse Festival were handed out on August 1st to four different winners in the Harrow/OLA Pee Wee age division.

 

In the Pee Wee B division, Mississauga jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over Owen Sound before Jake McNabb score with 2 minutes left in the period to put Owen Sound on the board.  The two teams traded goals in the second and McNabb completed his hat trick in the 3rd but it wasn’t enough for Owen Sound as Mississauga scored three goals of their own to win the Harrow/OLA Pee Wee B championship by a score of 8-4.  Top scorers for Mississauga were caption Daniel Pereria with 2g, 2a, Simon Boyko with 2g, 1a and Mitch LaBute with 1g, 2a.

 

The Pee Wee C final saw Hamilton and West Durham lock into a defensive battle.  The game remained scoreless until Josh Wright broke the stalemate for Hamilton with just under 9 minutes to play in the second, but 5 minutes later Keegan Parsons tied the game for West Durham.  Hamilton managed two unanswered goals in the third period to take home the Harrow/OLA Pee Wee C championship by a score of 3-1.

 

The Pee Wee D final featured Mimico 2 and Milton.  After a scoreless first period, Mimico 2 came storming out of the break with 5 unanswered second period goals.  Mimico 2 continued their balanced scoring and impressive discipline in the third before Tyler Playter got Milton on the board with 6 minutes to go.  Milton was unable to beat the goalie again, giving Mimico 2 the 8-1 win and Harrow/OLA Pee Wee D championship title.  Top scorers for Mimico 2 were Stewart Bell with 2g, 2a and Nicolas Grima with 2g, 1a.

 

In the Pee Wee E division, Brampton 2 lead 2-0 after the first period over Hamilton and never looked back.  Brampton 2 went on to the 6-2 victory for the title as Harrow/OLA Pee Wee E champions.  Brampton 2 was lead by A.J. Bimm and Tyler Watson, each with two goals in the victory.
